The assembled aluminum set <Hinge Picture System> (2015~) presented in this exhibition is a mobile wall for hanging paintings. This device makes paintings appear not as fixed objects but as objects in the process and reflects thoughts on how paintings can travel anywhere and circulate in harmony in life. Along with this exhibition, the artist zine 『The OBLP』, and the translation project 'Female Painter Writing Series' are presented. These projects are greatly influenced by books such as Cathy Park Hong's <Minor Feelings>, Moyra Davey's <Index Cards>, and Etel Adnan’s <In the Heart of Heart of Another Country>, which continue a long feminist tradition of collapsing the distinction between art and life and extending it in new ways within the contexts of 'autotheory,' immigration and migration, identity, and medium theory.
"From 2021 to 2023, when the coronavirus was at its peak, the severe hatred directed at Wuhan City in Hubei Province, China, known as the origin of the virus, soon spread into Asian hatred. My father got sick while the 'Stop AAPI Hate' solidarity movement was most active (a slogan against Asian hate crimes that occurred after the COVID pandemic in 2020). The global pandemic, Asian Hate, and the sadness and mourning of losing a loved one were all new to me. During that time, paintings were the least important and neglected thing, but they were present in everyday life and gave me the greatest comfort and empathy." (Excerpt from <The OBLP> (Vol. 1))
